State Senator James Seward announced Thursday that the Senate has passed legislation he co-sponsored to create a new website aimed at improving government efficiency.

"This resultsny.gov website that we're proposing would provide detailed information on agency budgets, and program expenditures," Seward said. "It would include a heavy emphasis on comparative data and statistics to show how the state is performing both regionally and nationally."

Those visiting the site will also be able submit their own suggestions on how to stop waste in government. The bill had passed in the Senate in 2011 and 2012. The bill has been sent to the Assembly.
