One of the key pieces for the future of the Giants defense is facing an uncertain future of his own after being charged with armed robbery.

According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News via CBS Sports, Giants defensive back Deandre Baker is charged with four counts of robbery with a firearm by Broward State Attorney Mike Satz.

The charges stem from an incident in May where Baker and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar allegedly robbed people attending a party at gunpoint before making a getaway.

Dunbar is not facing charges due to insufficient evidence, while Baker could spend ten years in prison on each count if convicted.

The NFL told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport in a statement they are monitoring the situation.

Baker's attorney Bradford Cohen was a little more blunt with his statement on Instagram:

Disgusting and no I won't hold back on behalf of this young man. To charge a young man based on admitted liars testimony is why we need a change in Broward from the old guard. I implore you all to go out and vote. Don't waste your vote. There are candidates that will change the landscape of how the judicial system works. We will now expose the hypocrisy at the case filing level, the way the office of the state attorney "teamed up" with these convicted felons and offered them to come in and explain why they changed their stories multiple times without fear of prosecutuon. That they were tipped off that we were reporting the extortion. Texting "if you don't pay we go to TMZ" The case filier in this case looked for anyway possible and even ignored the disagreement with his colleagues to charge this case. I will be giving a more formal statement on that process. #justicereform #judticeforsome #deandrebaker how about an exclusive? These "victims" offered to "settle" their claims for $500,000 as they were being pulled into the state attorneys office to then say they accepted money to change their story allegedly. Think about that the case filier was completely clueless that at the same time they were "cooperating" they were continuing to ask for money to change a story for the 3rd time.

Dunbar and Baker are both currently on the NFL commissioner's exempt list.

Baker was drafted by the Giants with the 30th pick in the first round of the 2019 draft.

The 22-year-old from the University of Georgia had a solid first season, notching 55 total tackles and eight passes defensed. However, it's now looking like he may never play a down of NFL football again.
