State police arrested 29-year-old Nicole Mills of Deposit on Tuesday, charging her with criminal possession of a controlled substance and a hypodermic instrument.

The arrest occurred after a traffic stop on State Route 17 in Sanford, at which time Mills was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant from the Town of Sanford Court. While being searched she was allegedly found to possess a small amount of heroin and a hypodermic syringe.

Mills was arraigned in the Village of Deposit Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail.
