Chenango County Man Arrested and Charged with Murder

State Police at Norwich arrested a Town of Smithville man Monday on a charge of 2nd degree murder.

29-year-old Kyle V. Whitfield was arrested after an investigation into a physical altercation and the subsequent stabbing death of 33- year-old James B. Button of Greene. The incident occurred Monday at about 3:20 pm at Whitfield's home.

Whitfield was arraigned in Town of Smithville Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail. State police were assisted at the scene by the Village of Greene Police Department.
