The Chenango United Way is in the process of setting its goals for the fall campaign and  developing their application process for funding for the next year.

Elizabeth Monaco, Executive Director of Chenango United Way says the organization is looking for greater donations than last year.

"Our campaign cabinet has proposed a goal of $456,000 for this year which is slightly higher than last years goal of $444,000, which we did meet, so I'm excited to see what happens with this years goal," Monaco said. "We have several things that we look at, we look at the status of our largest companies and of our largest supporters to see if they're in good shape, if they're anticipating strong campaigns, what they're employment record looks like for the last year to see how many employees they have to work with."

Although the official kick-off for the 2014 United Way campaign is late October with the “Day of Caring” in which volunteers help out non-profit agencies around the county with unfinished projects such as painting, landscaping, construction projects and more. Monaco says the organization has also began setting the parameters for the application process for non-profit agencies is now underway.

"The committee has just finished revising the RFP request of proposal process for this fall," she said. "The board reviewed it yesterday and it will be on our website just after the fourth of July, which means any non-profit in Chenango County can go on our website www.chenangouw.org look at the RFP process and determine whether they are eligible. We ask that all applicants be a 501C3 Non-Profit addressing the issues of income education or health."
