Today is my first practice for the Sherrill Silversmiths, so I may just be caught up in the excitement, but I don’t think it’s just me.

This year is my second season of this so I’m sure I wont be as nervous as I was last year at this time. I’m sure every other team has their talks and meetings to start the things off. I’m also certain that every other team sets goals, most importantly winning the NYCBL Championship.

Playing on colligate summer teams are much different from playing on a school teams because we all come from different programs with their own unique philosophies. Some players will be familiar faces with returning players from the season before and players who I have played with at my school this past season.

In my experience last summer I found it best to try to talk the game with other teammates and share ideas so I can pick up new tips or just to gain a better insight of my new teammates.

Our team and other teams in the league will be made up of a wide variety of talent ranging from Division I four year programs, to Division III Junior College Programs across the country.

I am excited to see where I stand among all these players. We are starting today with a live scrimmage to shake off some of the rust and to get out some of the first day jitters. Soon we will have some short instructional practices then getting into games shortly after that.

My main focus this summer is on staying healthy and trying to take advantage of any opportunities to gain experience or gain new insight.

I’m thrilled to start off another season with new teammates and new competition as we try to accomplish our goal of winning the NYCBL championship.
