A joint narcotics investigation named Operation Gold Rush has led to the arrest of Casandra Remillard, 24, of New Lisbon, formerly of Oneonta, NY.

The investigation, conducted by the Otsego County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Drug Enforcement Administration Albany District Office, focused on an oxycodone powder distribution ring operating in Otsego and Delaware counties. This investigation led to the conviction of Dante Darren Major who is currently serving a 55 year to life sentence.

Authorities say a quantity of oxycodone powder was purchased from Remillard in September 2011. Late last month Remillard was indicted by the County Grand Jury for selling the narcotic drug. A sealed indictment warrant of arrest was subsequently issued for her arrest.

Remillard was located Friday at an East Street apartment in the city of Oneonta and arrested on the warrant. Remillard was arraigned and sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $15,000 bail. If convicted she could face up to nine years in prison.

The case will be prosecuted by Otsego District Attorney John Muehl.
