Meet Emily the intern!

Hello my name is Emily Hull and I am a junior journalism major, sport studies minor at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. I am from Stamford, N.Y., which is about 30 minutes east of Oneonta. I will be interning here at CNY News this summer.

At Ithaca College, I work for The Ithacan, the college's award winning newspaper. There I have held positions as a sports reporter and assistant sports editor. The job I currently hold  is sports editor. There I have learned a lot about writing stories, editing content, managing a staff and working on deadline.

I hope to bring what I have learned at The Ithacan to my position here as intern for the next two months. I also hope to expand my experience in the field by working with different types of media. I hope to gain experience with photography, videos, on-air work and continue writing. I would also like to contribute reviews of movies, books and local events. I will also be doing some coverage of the Oneonta Outlaws this season.

In my hometown, I work at Mac-A-Doodles Ice Cream Shop on Main Street. I have worked there as a server, cashier and manager for six years. That is where I will be spending most of my nights this summer, so feel free to stop by and say hello. In my free time I enjoy running, reading and cooking.

I look forward to what the future holds here for me at CNY News. I'm excited to learn first-hand what it's like to work in a professional media outlet and make some connections along the way.
