The 38th Annual Lobsterfest at the Canasawacta Country Club Sunday was well attended with Congressman Hanna, State Senators Libous and Seward, and Assemblymen Crouch, Finch, Lopez and Magee, plus plenty of local representatives. Brad Vickers, President of the Chenango County Farm Bureau says the event is fun and has great food, but it's not  just fun and food.

"It's a great opportunity with both federal, state and local legislators and discuss some of the issues and follow-up with state legislators on the follow-up of the legislative session to talk about issues we need to work on more for next year," Vickers said. "Of course with federal legislators, particularly the farm bill is a big concern and this is an opportunity to talk to Congressman Hanna about the issue. Typically when we lobby in Albany or Washington you have a limited amount of time to talk to legislators, with this you can sit down in a comfortable setting and elaborate more on your concerns."

The annual Lobsterfest began 38 years ago as a fundraiser for Assemblyman Clarence "Rapp" Rappleyea and is sponsored by the Chenango County Republican Committee.
