Chenango County Approves Lease to Expand Court System into Eaton Center

The Chenango County Board of Supervisors voted Monday for a resolution to lease part of a Norwich building to acquire additional space for the Chenango County court system.

The lease agreement is for 30 years, for 20,000 sq. feet inside the Eaton Center in downtown Norwich.

The additional space will house family court, surrogate and drug court as well as the probation department, District Attorney’s Office, court clerks and other staff. The move to acquire more court space will satisfy the New York State Unified Court System’s mandate to accommodate the growing number of court cases in the 6th Judicial District.
