State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has uncovered about $3 million in inappropriate unemployment insurance payments made by the department of labor.

These payments included those to ineligible recipients who were employed, had collected more than the maximum weekly benefits or were not authorized to work in the United States. DiN

apoli says, of the $3 million uncovered by his audit, $1.9 million was prevented from being paid and $1.1 million was paid and the Department of Labor should pursue recovery.
