Sidney, N.Y. has opened a new "Chamber Center" on Main Street.  It will act as a "welcome center" and will host several local agencies.

"We are thrilled with our new space in the heart of downtown Sidney," Teri Schunk said. She is the 2nd Vice-President of the Sidney Chamber of Commerce.  "Our previous space served us well in the Civic Center (former Sidney Junior High School), but it was too far off the beaten path for visitors to find us.  Now we are right in the middle of Main Street for all to see!"

The Chamber Center will host a variety of agencies in the space.  Besides the Sidney Chamber of Commerce, space will also be utilized by the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce.  "Ray Pucci, the president of the Delaware Chamber or one of his staff members will be in this office several times a week.  We also will have space for the United Way of Sidney so they can have a presence on Main Street also," Ms. Schunk said.

The new Chamber Center will anchor a corner of what many locals will remember as the old Hotel DeCumber.  The building has recently undergone a major renovation and now houses a brand new artist's gallery as well.  "It is the best corner on Main Street," Schunk told us.

It is hoped that in the future visitors will stop by the office to pick up any of the multitude of brochures and printed matter about area businesses and events.  Some Sidney souvenirs will also be available in the future, such as the Sidney coffee mug seen in the photo below.

"We think this is an exciting time for Sidney and the Chamber is ready to be a full partner in many of the new adventures that lie ahead.  Now that we have a beautiful new "window on Main Street"  we hope people will stop by and say hello.  We are delighted to be back in the thick of things.  We hope that with our renovation of this office that other improvements will soon take place in our historic downtown," Ms. Schunk said.

Office hours are tentatively scheduled for 10:00am to 3:00pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  The office will be staffed by a paid employee and volunteers.

The president of the Sidney Chamber of Commerce is Stephanie Taylor.  The 1st vice-president is Jaime Cole.
