Sheriff Urges Caution Following Fatal Bike Accident

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is asking both bicyclists and drivers to use extra caution following a rider’s death over the weekend. It happened on State Route 80 westbound near Bell Road in Columbus and the rider identified as Martin Jogsdon Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say Jogsdon was riding in the middle of the road when the accident occurred. The driver identified as Allen Emrich of New Berlin was taken into custody.
