Farmers in Chenango and Schoharie Counties will receive nearly $400,000 each to implement water quality protection projects through the third round of the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation Waste Storage and Transfer System Program. According to Governor Cuomo's office, the award is one of 24 made statewide that allows livestock farms to better manage and store nutrients to protect groundwater and nearby waterways. A total of $9 million was awarded bringing the total program awards to nearly $32 million for 89 farms.
