Two people were arrested by the Norwich police department last evening about 5 p.m. during a traffic stop on Hale Street for various violations.

The operator, Ariana L. Edwards, of Binghamton, was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license. Another passenger in the car, 23-year-old Thomas Williams, Jr., was found to be wanted by the City of Utica on narcotics charges.

While being processed, each was found to have a quantity of crack cocaine and other illegal paraphernalia in their possession.

The police department’s k9 unit assisted at the scene. Edwards was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, both felonies, and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle and unlicensed operation, both misdemeanors.

Williams was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Both were arraigned in city court and remanded to the Chenango County correctional facility on $5,000.
