Cuomo during his daily news conference April 27 called the number “horrific” but it was less than half the daily number recorded at the height of the health crisis. The number comes in the same as the number posted at the end of March as the number of cases and deaths were on a meteoric rise in the state.

The Democrat also reported that the number of hospitalizations topped 1,000 on Saturday, but was still falling from the day before and the number of individuals put on a ventilator had dropped as well.

The deaths recorded Saturday and reported Sunday included 349 patients who died in hospitals and 18 individuals who died in nursing homes.

New York reports a total of 288,045 positive coronavirus cases, 5,902 new.

Tioga County officials April 26 announced the six deaths from the coronavirus in the county were residents of Elderwood Nursing Home in Waverly.  A Statement from Legislative Chairwoman Martha Sauerbrey said Elderwood is continuing testing for all residents and staff members.  Tioga County has 91 confirmed cases and 22 patients recovered.

Broome County is reporting 17 deaths with 259 positive, five of those new cases.

Chenango County reports seven new cases for a total of 91,032 cases in Cortland County and 68 cases in Delaware County.
