Lookout for ‘Murder Hornets’ Spotted In The US for the First Time

I saw this alert come through my phone over the weekend and didn't really think too much about it. I mean we write blogs, I know friends with websites and people want you to click on their article. I blew it off.

Is this real though? I started looking at it again and wondering if it was true. I'm quarantined with my family this weekend as bees worked hard in our backyard. It's crazy how you hear that humming sound wondering, "Are you good? You won't attack my daughter or son, right? We'll leave you alone 😀"

That is when I immediately started to think about that article I lost interest in. Are these hornets a real threat off Lake Hazel and Five Mile. Could we have an issue to worry about in the Treasure Valley? Greenbelt? I'm losing it 😳

I looked it back up and there is a new hornet being seen for the first time in the United States and people are warning us. It also looks like Washington State is the target again of a national crisis. These hornets are being called, "Murder Hornets." What a scary name to drop on us by the way.

These 'Murder Hornets' are brutal and come from Asia. Yes, they can kill you and me if stung enough times. I'm not sure if you're aware of the declining bee population but these hornets aren't helping. I guess they've seen huge mounds of dead bees with their heads tore off. I don't know about you but that sounds like something out of a movie. The only problem is this specific situation is real.

Should we worry? I'm going to say yes because I'm not a fan of wasps or hornets. You can pet a honey bee without a problem but these stingers don't play. Here's what Susan Cobey which is a breeder at Washington State said,

They're like something out of a monster cartoon with this huge yellow-orange face.

I'm going to tell you I don't even play when it comes to wasps or hornets. I did NOT need to see this while I have a hundred in my backyard pollinating. Now I have to warn my wife in which she'll ask me to do something about it. "Huh? Nah, I'm scared. That's why I'm telling you!" Just how I feel.

I came across this on CNN and you can click for more information. Just remember they say if you come across these hornets to run and call help. Yes, that's exactly what they say to do. I know it doesn't feel like a good answer but they want to know where each hornet is located. They attack our precious honey bee hives killing the bees. Just too much for me. Good luck 🐝

Sidenote: They expect the real issues to happen between late summer and fall. Oh, I somehow forget this little nugget. These hornets penetrate a beekeepers suit. That's just to let you know they don't mess around. Run and call help if you see them!
