The great-great-grandson of author James Fenimore Cooper died from cancer at his Cooperstown home on Sunday.  Henry Spotswood Fenimore Cooper was 82.  Cooper was a staff writer for the New Yorker magazine for 35 years, from 1958 to 1993. Cooper was also known as an environmentalist and helped form a group in the early 1980's which eventually became known as Otsego 2000. In addition, Cooper for many years was a board member of the Glimmerglass Opera, the Otsego Land Trust and the Smithy Pioneer Gallery.
