The giving season has begun and there's nothing more rewarding than helping families right here in the community, especially during the holiday season.  That's where the Angel Tree Program from the Salvation Army comes in.  The Angel Tree Program has a long tradition in our area. According to AllOTSEGO, it began back in 1921 and was started by Freeman’s Journal Editor & Publisher Rowan D. Spraker Sr. to help area families in need enjoy a happy holiday. Now in its 98th, The Freeman's Journal has partnered with The Salvation Army year and gathered a the wish lists of local families.

Here's how you can help.  CLICK HERE to get the list of items needed.  You can purchase one or two gifts, or embrace an entire family and get all the items on that wish list.  Any donation is greatly appreciated and will help. Gifts should be both new and unwrapped (price tags removed) and received no later than Dec. 5.  Gifts can either be dropped off at the newspaper offices at 21 Railroad Ave. in Cooperstown or at the Salvation Army Chapel located at 25 River St. in Oneonta.

Call Larissa at 607-547-6103, or email ads@allotsego.com (Monday-Friday, 9 am to 5 pm) to get the latest list.
