Fatal Norwich 2 Car Collision

On Thursday, December 17, at about 7:19 a.m., New York State Police from Sidney report that a collision involving two vehicles took place on State Highway 8 in the Town of Norwich.  Yae Yar, 43, of Utica was heading northbound on State Highway 8 when he entered the southbound lane to pass a tractor trailer. His vehicle then struck another vehicle in that southbound lane driven by Joanna L. Stanimer, 27, of W. Edmeston. Mr. Yar was pronounced dead at the scene from internal injuries. The front seat passenger in that same vehicle, Me Me, 36, was transported to Tri Town Hospital in Sidney but she also was pronounced dead from internal injuries. Mrs. Stanimer was air lifted to Wilson Hospital by Lifenet and remains in critical condition with internal injuries.  Mr. Yar had four additional passengers who are in serious, but stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
