U.S. News & World Report along with RTI International ranked Cooperstown High School 838th out of 19,753 schools evaluated nationwide which puts the school in the top 5 percent of the nation’s high schools.  A three-step process was used to determine the rankings. The first two steps involved the school’s performances on math and reading sections of their state proficiency tests. The third step assessed the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work. The study initially reviewed 29,070 public high schools in the country, however, some of the schools had to be eliminated because their enrollments were too small to be analyzed.
