Following a reported animal cruelty complaint in Conklin on July 4th, members of the state police and Broome County Humane Society located three deceased dogs in crates and 13 extremely malnourished dogs at a Town of Conklin residence.

Several smaller domestic pets including mice, hamsters, rabbits and birds were also found dead in cages in various stages of decomposition.

Christine Macon, 61, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty. She will appear in Town of Conklin court at a later date. All surviving animals were turned over to the Broome County Humane Society.
