Be Aware: ‘Operation Safe Stop’ Is Thursday

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office announced it will be participating in
"Operation Safe Stop Education and Enforcement Day" which takes place this Thursday. The mission of Operation Safe Stop is to promote school bus safety through education enforcement efforts. During “Safe Stop,” police officers will be on selected bus routes that have a history of drivers illegally passing stopped school buses. According to the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee an estimated 50,000 drivers in New York illegally pass buses every day school is in session.
