Apply For Help With Heating Bills

The 2015-2016 HEAP season opens Monday, November 16th. Persons over 60 years of age seeking to apply for HEAP should contact the Otsego County Office for the Aging at 547.4232. Households receiving SNAP or Public Assistance benefits should contact their caseworker at 547-1700.  All other households may apply on-line through mybenefits.ny.gov or by mail, phone, or in person at Opportunities for Otsego.  Scheduling for phone and in-person interviews at Opportunities for Otsego begins November 9th.

The HEAP program assists income-eligible households with payments for electricity, propane, natural gas, wood, wood pellets, oil, kerosene, coal, or other heating fuels.  Homeowners seeking assistance with furnace repair/replacement must apply in person at the Otsego County Department of Social Services.
