6 On The Square in Oxford Hosts Live Music

On Saturday, October 22, at 7:30 pm, 6 On The Square is
pleased to welcome Americana performer Rod Picott back to our stage as
a Fundraiser for the Oxford Lions Club.  It has been several years
since Rod’s last appearance at 6OTS, and since that time, his
popularity and demand as a performer has skyrocketed.

Almost 20 years ago, Rod laid down his work belt in his home state of
Maine, picked up an acoustic guitar, and put a permanent end to his
gig as a sheet rock hanger. He'd been writing music in private for
years, but it was 2001's Tiger Tom Dixon's Blues — a debut album that
bridged the gap between folk and Americana — that officially
introduced him as a singer/songwriter, kick starting one of the more
acclaimed careers in modern-day roots music.

Since then, he's focused on a different kind of construction: building
a catalog of songs that spin stories of hard work, heartache and the
human condition.  They are what the Boot says are “poignant, blatantly
honest and emotive.”  There is no doubt that Rod is a gifted
songwriter, crafting songs that are vibrant and mesmerizing, all the
while looking at life with an eye to the sometimes darker and
realistic emotions lurking in the shadows.

The Oxford Lions Club has been an important part of the Oxford
community for over 40 years, serving our community and fulfilling the
needs of those less fortunate. Proceeds from this performance will
benefit future programs and mission of the Club.
