Three people were arrested on various felony charges in the Village of Sidney Thursday afternoon as a result of a narcotics trafficking investigation conducted by members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and Village of Sidney Police Department. Sheriff’s Investigators arrested 22 year old Harry Ramirez, a/k/a “J.R.” or “Junior”, of Sidney and Bronx, NY, on two class B felony charges of 3rd degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and one class D felony charge of 3rd degree Robbery. Ramirez, who was arrested after he allegedly forcibly stole money from a cooperating witness, was found to possess a quantity of heroin with intent to sell. As a result of Ramirez’ arrest, police conducted a search of Ramirez’ Division Street, Sidney, residence where they located the apartment’s tenant, 44 year old Dawn Beta, and 29 year old Jasmine Santiago of Valley Stream, NY. The Investigation revealed that Santiago and Beta allegedly possessed and unsuccessfully attempted to flush and destroy a quantity of heroin upon the arrival of law enforcement members at that apartment. Investigators subsequently arrested and charged Beta and Santiago with 3rd degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class E felony. A quantity of heroin, liquid PCP, hypodermic instruments and more than $1000 cash was seized as a result of the arrests. The suspects were arraigned in the Village of Sidney Court Thursday evening who remanded Ramirez to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $350,000 cash bail. Beta and Santiago were each remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000 cash bail pending further court action.
