A state supreme court judge in Oswego County on November 24 issued an injunction blocking all the eight counties that make up the 22nd Congressional District from certifying results.  That applies only to the Congressional race and not the other local, state and presidential contests.

Republican Claudia Tenney is vying to reclaim her seat in Congress from incumbent U.S. Representative Anthony Brindisi, the Democrat who took the job from her two years ago.

Tenney, at last report, had been holding a slight lead over Brindisi, by up to 200 votes. On election night, the lead was over 28,000 but absentee and military ballots have leaned heavily in Brindisi’s favor over the past three weeks.

Brindisi had defeated Tenney by fewer than 4,500 votes in 2018.  In both that contest and this year’s race, Tenney has leaned heavily on support for and from Donald Trump.

Earlier this week it was learned that some of the votes that were to have been marked in ink by Board of Elections officials had, instead, had sticky-notes affixed to them to indicate if the votes had been included the the count or were contested. Many of those notes popped off during transport to court, leaving no way to know the status of the ballots.

It's possible a recount of all the ballots could be ordered.
