Now that Steven Tyler has officially bailed on ‘American Idol‘ and it’s looking more and more like Jennifer Lopez will follow suit, that’s two Chairs of Judgment that need to be filled. Or is it three?

Sources close to the show say Randy Jackson, the only original ‘Idol’ panelist left, is packing up his iffy fashion sense and hitting the door, too.

“['Idol' producers] think they need to freshen everything up now,” a source told Us Weekly, adding that the musician and record producer may stay with the program in a “mentoring role.”

So who will fill all those empty spots at the judges’ table? One seat may go to pop superstar Mariah Carey. “They are in serious talks with Mariah and it’s very close to being a done deal,” a source said.

That would mean Mariah is going to be pretty busy — not only is she a mother of young twins, she’s also in the studio recording her next album.

Others in contention for judging slots include Adam Lambert, the flamboyant runner-up from the 8th season of the show, as well as Miley Cyrus, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, and possibly even Charlie Sheen (can you imagine?). Katy Perry was thought to be in the running too, but she recently squelched those rumors.

No matter who it winds up being, looks like there will be some big changes when ‘Idol’ returns to the airwaves for season 12 early next year.
