The Chenango County Sheriff's Office found an unidentified human body Tuesday off of Center Road in the Town of Pharsalia.

The unidentified female body was taken to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office in Syracuse for an autopsy.

According to Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting, the identity of the body is unknown to investigators. The investigation is continuing.

Police have been extensively searching for Jennifer Ramsaran, a New Berlin woman who has been missing since December. They did not say if they believed the body found to be Ramsaran and are waiting for a dental examination and a positive identification.

Police visited Ramsaran's husband, Ganesh, Tuesday to request dental and medical records from a surgery she once had, according to a report by WBNG-TV in Binghamton.

The results of the autopsy could be released as early as Thursday.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the NYS Police and Chenango County Bureau of Fire. Anyone with information should contact the sheriff's office at 337-1924.
