ONEONTA, N.Y. — SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick were each named in at least one of the 2014 U.S. News and World Report's "Best Colleges" lists, released today.

SUNY Oneonta is among the top 100 colleges in the Northeast for the eighth consecutive year, while Hartwick is one of the best liberat arts colleges, according to the report.

SUNY Oneonta sits at No. 66 in the “Best Regional Universities—North” category, which includes institutions in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and all of New England that offer a full range of undergraduate and master's degrees, but few, if any, doctoral programs.

Among public institutions in the region, SUNY Oneonta ranks No. 16.

U.S. News & World Report has once again ranked Hartwick College among the first-tier of Best National Liberal Arts Colleges in the 2014 edition of its "Best Colleges" guide. Hartwick is ranked 161 among liberal arts colleges overall, up three spots from the 2013 edition.

In addition to its overall ranking, Hartwick is also named to supplementary lists by U.S. News this year. Hartwick was listed as a top school within the "Most Students Studying Abroad" list, ranked 124 out of 240 schools on the "High School Counselor Rankings" list and cited as a National Liberal Arts College on the "Most International Students" list.
