After the long wait through the weekend I am finally playing in my first game as a Silversmith in the 2013 season.

Today we play at at the beautiful Alliance Bank Park, the home of the Syracuse Chiefs. This will be an exciting game to play today playing on a perfectly groomed field where many other professional players have played before.

Today I was going to talk a little about superstitions and my pre game routines. Many baseball players have a certain rituals or superstitions before they play a game, ranging anywhere from not stepping on the foul lines to not washing their compression shorts when they are on a hitting steak or a winning streak.

I also have many superstitions that I follow throughout the season when playing. Before the games I always have to have a full sub with turkey, lettuce, mayo and banana peppers from Hometown Deli Sub with an Arizona Arnold Palmer to drink as my pregame meal.

I will never step on the foul lines before a game in fear that I will then have a bad game. Most times I will even jump a foot before the line to be extra cautious of not touching the line when running on and off the field.

When I am hitting in a game I constantly spit on my batting gloves in between pitches, This is one of the few superstitions that I have constantly done since I was even in little league. When pitching I have to constantly readjust my jersey in-between innings to make sure my uniform is perfect before I go out to the next inning.

In some seasons I have refused to wash my hat during the season if I have a feeling that it will throw me off my game. During this past school season I refused to shave my facial hair during a prolonging hitting streak in fear that if I shaved I would then lose my hit steak.

Each player has their own superstitions before and during games. I always pick up or lose a superstition for every new season I play.
