How will YOU be starting 2019?  One GREAT way to kick off the new year will be to attend three engaging interactive Social Security Workshops!  This is a collaboration with Office of Mental Health and CDO Workforce.

If you or someone you know, is considering returning to work and/or is fearful or skeptical of the possibility of losing Social Security benefits, this is the event to attend!  If you are a provider and want to learn more about navigating this complex system, to help better serve the folks you work with, these workshops are for you as well.  If you are a family member or friend and would like to learn more so you can be a stronger support through the benefit process, you are welcome! If you are a member of the community and have nothing more exciting planned for the first Friday of 2019 and this peaks your interest, join us for this lively discussion!
Office of Mental Health facilitators, will explain how to use Social Security work incentives to help maintain SSI and SSDI eligibility as you explore returning to work and ease off cash benefits and into self-sufficiency.  These workshops will also teach you how to request a waiver for an over payment and avoid spend-downs.  Information about maintaining low cost (or even no-cost) health insurance while working full time will be discussed.

Many people with disabilities wait years before they are determined to be eligible for benefits.  These workshops will show you the benefits and advantages by participating in Social Security entitlement programs.
This FREE community event will be held at 12 Dietz Street in Oneonta on January 4, 2019 from 11:30-3:30.  Please encourage the people you work with that receive SSA benefits to attend.  Please distribute this flier to your colleagues, post on your agencies social media or web page, hang on community bulletin boards within your community, and take the time to reach out via phone to the folks you directly support.
All three workshops will be explained in simple everyday language, so folks can better understand and navigate the Social Security system.  Seating is limited, please register with me by email or calling my office number.
