Ever since Atari introduced 'Pong' more than 40 years ago, video games have become an immensely popular form of home entertainment. But their legacy isn't simply ruined eyesight, carpal tunnel syndrome and short attention spans. They've also profoundly changed the way we think and even given us new ways to communicate.

We're already excited for DreamWorks' 'Need for Speed' video game-adapted movie because 'Breaking Bad' star Aaron Paul is leading the cast, but now the flick is getting even more star power by adding another big name into the mix -- rapper Kid Cudi.

Christmas-themed video games might seem like the best way for developers to cash in on the holiday season, but there's a conspicuous lack of these titles on the market. Believe it or not, this is a good thing, because the vast majority of Christmas games to date have been pretty bad and, what's more, inexplicably weird.

Oh good! It may as well be December, which means we can cue the Christmas warm and fuzzies. Even though some people think of Reddit as a bastion of misogyny and smut, this story made the front page, and it's totally heartwarming and wholesome. It's about one Redditor with a heart of gold who saved Christmas for another Redditor's son.

Over the years, Hollywood has taught us one thing -- it's easy to churn out movies based on video games, but a whole lot more difficult to make them watchable. For every semi-decent 'Resident Evil' or 'Tomb Raider' flick, there's a stinker like 'Silent Hill,' 'Doom,' 'Bloodrayne,' 'Wing Commander' and, perhaps worst of all, 'Super Mario Bros.'
