Governor Andrew Cuomo visited an American Red Cross bulk distribution site late Sunday afternoon in the village of Herkimer and praised Red Cross volunteers for their “extraordinary” work in the aftermath of the flooding that left hundreds of families homeless throughout Herkimer, Oneida, Madison and Montgomery counties.

On Tuesday U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has set aside a portion of its disaster relief funding. The government has heeded the call and will provide $215,000 in disaster relief funding to keep gauges online in southern tier.
