Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has named SUNY Oneonta to its 2014 Military Friendly Schools list.

The list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

SUNY Oneonta has approximately 70 students who receive veterans’ benefits, either because they themselves have been or are in service, or they are receiving benefits as the child or spouse of an active or discharged service member.

Special services for veterans provided by the college include: veteran-specific scholarships; acceptance of credit for formal courses and occupations offered by the military; in-state tuition charged for Chapter 33 (post-9/11 GI Bill) students; and locking in degree requirements and extending leaves beyond the usual time frame for any personnel called to active duty.
