State University of New York campuses and New York Energy Research and Development Authority [NYSERDA] announced Monday that SUNY’s 64 campuses will save more than $1.2 million in energy costs annually by incorporating energy-efficient information technology and related facility improvements.

The energy saving projects are expected to be completed in 2014 and support Governor Cuomo’s Build Smart NY initiative which is expected to increase energy efficiency in state buildings by 20 percent in the next seven years. The project was first announced in the 2012 State of the University address given by Chancellor Zimpher.
