New York State has announced the formation of a new animal protection initiative aimed at shutting down criminal animal fighting rings.

This ensures compliance with New York State’s pet lemon law, which charges those who abuse or neglect animals. It will also crack down on the abuses of “puppy mills” in order to protect the welfare of animals being sold and the consumers.

The new initiative will use the civil and criminal remedies to target allegations of animal cruelty and unscrupulous sales of pets and other animals.
