Dave Hamburg, the DOT District Nine Public Information Officer, has reported that there are still roads closed today do to yesterday's flooding.

State Route 8 in Chenango County in the White Store area is closed due to a washed out culvert and utilities. A detour will guide motorists using County Route 18. NYSDOT is working to restore at least one lane of alternating traffic.

State Route 51 bridge at County Route 3 in Otsego County between Mt. Upton and Morris is closed due to scour concerns. NYSDOT expects to complete the repairs necessary in time to reopen this portion of roadway by tomorrow.

New York State Department of Transportation maintenance forces have been on scene since the overnight hours working to restore access to closed roadways. NYSDOT bridge inspection teams are evaluating structures for safety.
Motorists are reminded to use extreme caution when traveling in flooded areas.  When in doubt, "Turn Around. Don't Drown."
