New polls results released by Siena College Research Institute find that New Yorkers generally approve of Governor Andrew Cuomo, his efforts to build casinos in upstate, and the new gun control legislation. New Yorkers oppose fracking, however.

Cuomo’s favorability rating is still high with 64 percent approving the governor's work, according to the poll. Thirty percent had an unfavorable opinion of him, while six percent had  no opinion.

Twelve percent said he is doing an excellent job, 42 percent said he is doing a good job, 31 percent said he is doing a fair job and 13 percent said he is doing a poor job. One percent had no opinion.

Another Siena poll found that New Yorkers generally support Las Vegas-style casinos. The poll was inspired by Cuomo's plan to construct three casinos in upstate.

A total of 46 percent of those polled said they support gaming, while 43 percent oppose it. Eleven percent had no opinion. Fifty percent of those polled said they support the governor’s proposal to build only three casinos in upstate. A total of 43 percent opposed it and eight percent didn’t know.

On the question of fracking, 43 percent of those polled said they oppose it while 39 percent support it. A total of 18 percent have no opinion.

On the new state gun control law, 61 percent support it, 35 percent oppose it and four percent have no opinion.
