State Senator James Seward has voiced his opposition to Governor Cuomo’s proposal to provide free college education for prison inmates.

Senator Seward says he has had many conversations with parents and high school students who say they are under a lot of stress over test scores, the hard work it takes to get into college, and how to afford an education.

While the senator says he appreciates the the idea of rehabilitation of inmates, providing them a free college education is a slap in the face to law- abiding citizens and demeans the great efforts put forth by families to help their children attain their higher education goals.
