Police Arrest 73-Year-Old Norwich Man on Drug Charges

The Chenango County sheriff’s office arrested a Norwich man earlier this month for allegedly unlawfully growing marijuana.

Henry W. Hemsley, 73, allegedly had 45 marijuana plants growing on his property. While executing a search warrant for Hemsley’s residence deputies located about two pounds of processed marijuana, several illegally possessed hand guns and over 200 long guns, including several fully automatic rifles.

Hemsley was arraigned in Town of Norwich court and remanded to the Chenango County correctional facility on $2,500 cash bail. Further charges are pending.
