The New York State Comptroller’s Office reports there is more than $15.5 billion in unclaimed funds and the office is going to the community to find the owners of that money.
The money from old bank accounts, utility deposits, uncashed checks, insurance claims, stocks and other sources with some of the money being dormant for decades. The Comptroller’s office will be at the Great New York State Fair from Aug. 22 to Aug. 31 to assist with the claims.
