Petition Launches to Have Mowhawk Valley Declared a Federal Disaster Area

Following the severe flooding that has occurred and continues to occur in the Mohawk Valley, CNYnews.com colleague Bill Keeler at WIBX has created a Change.org petition to have the region declared a federal disaster area.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has pleaded to President Barack Obama to make the declaration, but said he is "not overly optimistic" that it will happen.

The petition needs 10,000 signatures for it to be officially reviewed and responded to by the White House.
