The Child Advocacy Center of Norwich has been busy this month getting out the word to the Chenango County population on how prevalent child abuse is in the state and Chenango County.

Last Friday was Wear Blue Day to bring awareness of child abuse, followed by a community breakfast April 6th to bring awareness of crime and abuse and to recognize the many agencies and people who help victims daily. One of those people is community educator and victim advocate, June Georgia:

In 2012 there were 758 reports of child abuse in Chenango County involving 1,067 children. Out of those reports, 273 resulted in finding child abuse and neglect involving 436 children. Chenango County ranked 8th highest in  the state in reports of child abuse or neglect.
