On Sunday at about 2:40 AM the city of Oneonta Police Department responded to a call of a fight in progress in the area of 368 Main St. Upon arrival the responding officers found a victim on the ground bleeding from his head with labored breathing and immediately requested an ambulance from the Oneonta Fire Department. Witnesses on the scene described a suspect in the assault which led to the arrest of 18 year old Joseph Schof from Bullville N.Y. for Assault in the Second Degree. Schof, an 18-year old  who had been visiting Oneonta, was arraigned in the City of Oneonta Court and released on $5,000 cash bail. The victim, who is SUNY Oneonta student, is currently listed in critical condition in the Neurological Intensive Care Unit at Albany Medical Center.
