Officers Prevent Complex Escape Plot in Elmira

Correction officers at the Elmira Correctional Facility say they prevented a complex escape plot Friday. The facility was placed on lockdown Friday and several contraband weapons were found.

The officers say they were tipped off about the plot set to take place over the holiday weekend. It was found that several inmates were planning a disruption inside the facility with the goal of escaping. The investigation is ongoing.
