NYSEG emergency planners are closely monitoring the winter storm expected to hit at least part of the state on Wednesday that will last through Thursday afternoon.

Strong winds and related tree damage could result in power interruptions. This storm could affect some of the same customers who lost power as a result of destructive winds late last week.

The winter storm is expected to bring 8 to 12 inches of snow by Thursday afternoon.

The forecast has prompted the city of Oneonta Police Department to remind residents that the city has a snow emergency ordinance that requires all vehicles to be off its streets when an accumulation of 2 and a half inches or more has fallen.

Vehicles that are left on the street are subject to ticket and tow at the owners expense.
