On Thursday NYSEG conducted helicopter patrols to inspect for additional system damage and to check the integrity of the company’s transmission system following the severe thunderstorms on Monday. The helicopter patrols covered the towns of Sanford, Deposit, Bainbridge, Sidney and Masonville.

NYSEG president Mark Lynch says getting a bird’s-eye view of the transmission lines from helicopters is an efficient way to inspect for undetected damage along our corridors after these recent storms. At the height of the storm more than 60,000 customers lost power.
