New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman joined fifteen other attorneys general in filing an amicus brief in support of Washington and Minnesota in the federal lawsuit against the Trump Administration’s executive order on immigration.

The two states are currently involved in an appeal by the Justice Department to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals over a Seattle judge’s decision to temporarily stop President Trump’s Executive Order.

An amicus brief is a legal document filed in appellate court cases by non-litigants with a strong interest in the subject matter.
