NY Senate to Consider the Dissolution of MOSA

A bill allowing for the dissolution of MOSA, the tri-county solid waste authority, is now in front of the New York Senate.

State Senator James Seward announced Monday that legislation he sponsors, allowing the dissolution of the Montgomery, Otsego, Schoharie Solid Waste Authority (MOSA), was approved by the Senate Committee on Corporations, Authorities, and Commissions, and reported to the floor of the senate. The measure follows a home rule request from the three member counties and the authority.

Along with formally ending the solid waste authority, the bill also includes a plan for the distribution of the authority’s assets and liabilities among the three member counties.

The bill will next be considered by the full senate.
